SPC Samlip shoots for W100b in fresh convenience food sales

SPC Samlip said Monday that it is aiming to increase revenue from its lineup of fresh ready-to-eat products to 100 billion won ($89 million) by 2020, bringing total revenues for the company to 4 trillion won.

“The fresh convenience food market including salads and ready-to-eat fruit is growing at more than 30 percent each year, and has infinite growth potential,” said Lee Myung-koo, CEO of SPC Samlip, at a ceremony commemorating the company‘s 72nd anniversary Friday. “With SPC Fresh Food Factory at the center, we will aggressively target this market to grow to the next level.”

SPC Samlip recently began production at SPC Fresh Food Factory, a production plant in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, which can annually produce 13,000 tons of products such as processed vegetables, sauces, beverage bases and pastry fillings.

“We plan to use our captive market of 6,000 SPC stores including Paris Baguette and Dunkin Donuts as a base while continuously expanding transactions with outside companies as well,” an official with SPC said. By Won Ho-jung (hjwon@heraldcorp.com)
