Oct. 24, 2016 - 15:29 By 정민경
[THE INVESTOR]  South Korea will host an international information, communications and technology conference this week, the Science Ministry said Oct. 24.

The ICT Prospect Conference 2017, hosted by the ministry, will be held in Seoul on Oct 25-26, officials said.

The country has been pushing forward with various projects to secure a new growth strategy to cope with the fast-paced industrial transformation, dubbed the “fourth industrial revolution” and characterized by a fusion of cutting-edge technologies such as big data and the Internet of Things.

This year’s event will be focused on prospecting 10 major issues in the ICT industry in 2017 and introducing other industries that can fuse with the ICT sector, the ministry said.

“The conference is meaningful as industry experts and officials can gather to confirm the importance of the ICT industry that will lead the fourth industrial revolution,” Choi Jae-you, vice minister of science, ICT and future planning, said in a press release.

Among those attending the annual event are Dale Ford, vice president of leading research firm IHS Markit Technology, and Kim Do-hwan, chairman of the Korea Information Society Development Institute.
