4개월 때부터 7살 때까지 보금자리를 못 찾은 채 동물보호센터에서 지내는 개가 화제다. 그가 거절당한 횟수는 무려 17,000번이라고 데일리 메일이 보도했다.
제드는 4개월 때 다른 센터에서 현재의 “달링턴스 도그 트러스트 (Darlington’s Dog Trust)”으로 오게 되었다. 첫 번째 가정은 그가 너무 “에너제틱”하다고 하여 거절했고 두 번째 가정은 개인적 사정 때문에 그를 데려가지 못했다.
제드는 결국 4개월 때부터 7살인 현재까지 17,000번이나 거절당했다. 동물보호소에서 지낼 수 있는 평균적인 기간은 약 29일이다. 하지만 제드는 그 기간을 훌쩍 넘긴 7년이나 보호소에서 지냈다.
보호소에 따르면 제드는 힘이 넘치는 개지만 간단한 훈련을 통해 길들일 수 있다고 한다. 초보자들 보다 개에 관해 잘 아는 사람이 그를 데려가면 좋을 것이며 착하고 사람을 좋아하는 개라고 덧붙였다.
영국에서 현재까지 보호소에서 가장 긴 시간을 보낸 동물은 고양이 “케이시”다. 무려 13년 동안 보호소생활을 한 것으로 알려졌다.

A dog named Jed, who is currently 7-years-old, has been rejected 17,000 times since he was four months old, according to the Daily Mail.
Darlington’s Dog Trust received Jed from another kennel when he was 4-months-old. The first family rejected Jed because he was too energetic for them. The second family couldn’t take him because of “changed circumstances.”
The average period for a dog to stay is about 29 days. But it’s already Jed’s seventh year at Darlington’s Dog Trust, making him the dog that’s stayed the longest in the shelter.
According to the shelter, Jed is very energetic but can be trained and is very well behaved. He also likes people and hugs. It would be better if someone experienced would take Jed.
It is known that “Britain’s most unwanted cat” was Casey, a cat that stayed at a shelter for 13 years.
