범정부 사고대책본부는 24일 희생자들 가운데 손가락 골절이 있었다는 보도와 관련 손가락 골절은 없었다고 밝혔다.
전남 진도군청에서 열린 브리핑 내용에 따르면 "손가락 골절은 없었다. 왼쪽 중지 손가락에 깁스를 한 희생자는 있었다"고 밝혔다.
이에 앞서 한 방송은 민간 잠수부 말을 인용해 "21, 22일 세월호 3층과 4층의 객실에서 발견된 시신의 상당수 손가락이 골절 상태인 경우가 많았다"고 전했다.
이 잠수부는 "세월호의 방향이 바뀌는 과정에서 배가 왼쪽으로 기울어 출입문이 사실상 머리 위에 위치하게 됐다"라며 "이 과정에서 승객들이 밖으로 탈출하기 위해 작은 틈이라도 붙잡고 문으로 기어오르려 했을 것으로 보인다"고 설명했다.
한편 23일 오전 9시부터 안산 올림픽기념관에 임시합동분양소가 마련됐으며 정부는 초지동 화랑유원지에 단원고 학생들과 교사들을 한 자리에서 추모할 수 있는 대형 합동분향소를 설치해 오는 29일부터 운영할 방침이다.

Bodies from sunken ferry show signs of finger fractures
A number of the bodies recovered from the sunken ferry Sewol appeared to have suffered from finger fractures, according to divers who participated in the rescue mission.
The fractures indicate that the passengers inside the ill-fated vessel may have tried to climb up against the tilted floor toward an exit, or the bodies could have been bumped around as the ferry sank, a diver was quoted as saying.
“Many of the bodies that we discovered showed signs of fractures, mainly on the fingers and some were mutilated,” the diver was quoted as saying.
But the government's joint investigation team dismissed the report as groundless.
