Samsung‘s Galaxy Note device hits 1m sales mark

Dec. 29, 2011 - 16:36 By Korea Herald
Samsung Electronics Co., the world’s second-largest handset maker, said Thursday its global sales of Galaxy Note devices surpassed 1 million in just two months.

Samsung said the numbers represent Galaxy Note handsets supplied to mobile operators around the world since the device‘s debut at the end of October.

Samsung claimed it created a new type of smart device that combines the strengths of a smartphone and a tablet computer, and uses a 5.3-inch screen.

The Android-powered device offers a digital pen, called the “S Pen,” which enables users to write notes on the screen or draw images.

The Galaxy Note, which will be launched on the U.S. market next year, has had strong sales in France and Germany in particular, Samsung said.

The company, which overtook Apple Inc. in terms of smartphone sales during the third quarter, is estimated to have surpassed its annual smartphone sales target of 60 million units this year, up three times from 2010. (Yonhap News)
