South Korea's Air Force is under investigation for having lost classified documents on its aerial operational plan in case of war, a military official said Friday.

Two secret military documents have been missing at the Air Force headquarters since late August, right after South Korea and the United States ended their annual military drills that involved tens of thousands of troops from the two allies, the official said.
Military authorities had combed through offices of the Air Force headquarters and its vehicles but failed to find the documents, the official said on the condition of anonymity.
"Military authorities are holding an inquiry into how the secret military documents were lost," the official said.
The documents included the Air Force's wartime operations guidelines and training details for pilots, according to the official.
South Korea and the U.S. ended the 10-day Ulchi Freedom Guardian exercise on Aug. 26.

공군, 전시 작전계획 문건 분실
공군에서 전시 공중작전 계획을 담은 비밀문건 을 분실해 관계기관이 조사 중인 것으로 30일 밝혀졌다.
군 관계자는 "지난 8월 을지프리덤가디언(UFG) 훈련 직후 공군작전사령부에서 군사비밀 2건이 사라진 것으로 파악됐다"면서 "현재 관계기관에서 관련자를 대상으 로 분실 경위와 원인을 조사 중"이라고 밝혔다.
군은 해당 문건을 찾기 위해 부대 안을 뒤지고 차량 수색까지 실시했지만 찾지 못했으며 분실 경위도 파악하지 못한 상태다.
군 관계자는 "일단 실무자의 착오로 문건을 파기했을 가능성을 염두에 두고 조 사 중이지만, 외부로 유출됐을 가능성도 배제하지 않고 있다"고 말했다.
분실된 문건은 전면전 발발시 공군의 작전계획을 담은 2급비밀 1건과 평시 비행 훈련 계획을 담은 3급비밀 1건인 것으로 알려졌다.
