K-pop group B2ST denied entry in Japan on visa issue

K-pop group B2ST returned to Seoul Tuesday after the band was denied entry at Haneda International Airport in Japan because of visa problems, according to reports.

The South Korean boy band couldn’t pass through immigration desks and were put on standby for over eight hours. They were denied entry for not holding an “entertainment visa,” reports said.

“B2ST canceled their upcoming promotion scheduled in Japan for visa problem and took returning flight to Seoul on 8 pm (Tuesday),” Cube Entertainment, the group’s agency said.

The group was told that they don’t necessarily have to hold entertainment visa to perform in Japan.

“Universal Music, B2ST’s Japanese label, is responsible for the distribution of B2ST’s music in Japan. We definitely corresponded with them about the schedule and visa matters. We were even informed in advance that there were no problems,” a representative at the agency was quoted as saying by allKpop, website on hallyu.

B2ST was scheduled to promote their first album “SO BEAST” in Japan. The album was fully released in the Asia‘s biggest music market last week.

비스트, 비자 문제로 日서 입국거부

    (서울=연합뉴스) 이은정 기자 = 그룹 비스트가 16일 일본에서 비자 문제로 입국하지 못해 예정된 프로모션을 취소하고 귀국했다.

    소속사인 큐브엔터테인먼트는 이날 "비스트가 오늘 오전 일본 하네다 공항에 도착한 뒤 비자 문제로 입국 심사를 통과하지 못해 8시간 여 동안 공항에 대기했다"며"일본에서 예정된 스케줄을 전면 취소하고 오후 8시께 한국행 비행기에 올랐다"고 말했다.

    공항당국은 비스트의 비자가 공연비자가 아니라는 점을 문제 삼은 것으로 알려졌으며 이에 대해 소속사는 "비스트의 일본 음반유통사인 유니버설 뮤직 재팬의 레이블 FET를 통해 공연을 하지 않을 경우 공연 비자가 필요없다는 제반 사항을 통보받았으나 이같은 일이 불거졌다"고 덧붙였다.

    당초 비스트는 일본에서 지난 10일 발매한 1집 '소 비스트(SO BEAST)' 프로모션의 일환으로 16일 도쿄를 방문해 타이틀 곡 '픽션'이 이미지송으로 쓰인 할리우드 블록버스터 영화 '상하이'의 프리미엄 시사회에 서프라이즈 이벤트로 참석할 예정이었다.

    소속사는 "오늘 공항에서 대기한 상황에 대해 일본 FET 측에 정확한 문제점을 묻고 자세한 사항을 파악 중에 있다"며 "향후 일본 활동에 아무런 문제가 없도록 앞으로 준비에 만전을 기하겠다"고 덧붙였다.
